The story of tyranny began outside of time, in eternity. Tyranny was conceived by the iron will and frustrated mind of Lucifer, the arch angel. With the misty edge of an impressionist’s brush, the prophet Isaiah records the ancient incident in the pages of scripture. However, one thing is crystal clear – since the rise of tyranny, the world has never been the same.

“How you have fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
For you have said in your heart:
I will ascend into heaven.
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on
The farthest sides of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds.
I will be like the Most High.’
              Isaiah 14:12-14
              The New King James Bible

Tyranny is a spirit, an attitude of the heart that is soaked through with pride. Americans tend to think of liberty and tyranny in the context of politics. However, all political parties are susceptible to the spirit of tyranny because it is the nature of our fallen human condition as people that make us susceptible to tyranny’s insidious influence. Tyranny’s origin is not rooted in the world of politics, but the realm of the spiritual. Just as liberty is God’s original idea, tyranny is Lucifer’s original idea. The first anti-virtues that tyranny birthed were the fraternal twins of envy and greed. These two deadly sins were born with an all consuming, never ending appetite: envy lusts for who someone else is and greed lusts for what someone else has.

Lucifer was manifest with envy and greed as he gazed at the beauty of the Lord (God’s awesome love, His sovereign power, creative genius and originality, His freedom and liberty to do anything he imagined with awe-inspiring excellence) and spontaneously combusted into utter moral meltdown. With breath-taking audacity, Lucifer demanded from God the greatest wealth transfer ever conceived: God’s glory, God’s kingdom and everything God had produced with His hands.

Thankfully, Love said no to pride. In other words, God knew that if pride got control, Lucifer would have attempted the fundamental transformation of the universe, burning it down to the ground as he hoped to change it into what he thought was more just.

In rage and resentment, having been denied by God, Lucifer, the liar, has been bad-mouthing Him for every evil in the world, creating crises, shifting blame, assailing God’s justness. Lucifer whispers in each ear that when bad things (fires, floods, hurricanes, sickness, death, all natural and unnatural disasters) happen to good people – “It’s an act of God.” Tyranny is Lucifer’s ultimate revenge strategy against God and everyone He loves. Having never forgiven God, the dark anarchist wrecks havoc in the lives of people, attempting to twist their image into his by iniquity and addictions, tempting and enslaving everyone God spent a fortune to free.

Lucifer is the original self-made victim of God’s perfect justice. “If only I, Lucifer, could be in control of everything and everyone, fairness and social justice would fix everything wrong in the world for all time and eternity.” So Lucifer, the work-a-holic, hustles 24 hours a day eight days a week, promising what he has no power or ability to deliver – Utopia. His latest recycled version is Progressivism: a brave new world without history to inform it or God to guide it. It will never work because fantasy does not contain the seeds of reality, truth, or proven universal principles. But, facts never got in the way of pride.

Thank God for His sovereign love and steadfast power to resist evil. Let us do likewise. Study liberty and resist tyranny in any deceitful disguise it may appear. People are not the enemy. The spirit of tyranny is the enemy of “we of the people” – of all people around the world. The questions you must ask yourself and answer are simple. Do you want liberty or do you want tyranny to govern you? Do you want to be the prisoner of your own life, in your own country? In the next election, you must answer these questions with your vote. If you want the spirit of liberty to reign in Washington, D.C. once again, vote the original American mind of our Founders in 2012. See to it that the candidate you support really reflects the principles and original intent of our Founding Fathers and Mothers.
